About Trinity Beach

Trinity Beach is an award winning beach situated in the heart of Tropical North Queensland on the Northern beaches of Cairns. Located only 20 minutes drive from Cairns city and 15 minutes drive from Cairns International and Domestic Airport, Trinity Beach is central to all local attractions and locations.

The character of Trinity Beach is purely Australian. It’s a welcoming, healthy, confident beachfront community with great spirit and a quiet modesty.

The beach is terrific, but it hasn’t been overdeveloped with high-rise. You’ll discover a lovely paved walk meandering through the gardens underneath the beach almond trees, marked by free electric BBQs, lots of covered seating and a good sized children’s playground.

The beach is very safe for swimming and like all Aussie beaches has a lifeguard station and, in our tropical summer from November to May, a stinger-proof enclosure for protected swimming. At each end of Trinity Beach are twin headlands; popular spots for fishing or walking or simply sitting and taking in the tropical mornings and evenings.

Landscaped Beachfront

Vasey Esplanade

The Esplanade here is intimate - not more than a kilometre long - and has a great mix of both sophisticated and family-style eateries. At the northern end is the Trinity Beach Tavern, a new, modern hotel with great beach and ocean views well patronised by locals because of its entertainment options, good meals and a thoughtful ‘computer bar’ which caters well for children.

Further along the beach front there’s a busy Thai restaurant, a popular Italian brasserie and bar right on the Esplanade corner and a modern Australian restaurant which attracts couples and family groups. Best of all, you can still get excellent pizza, pasta, burgers and fish and chips at the licensed establishments right on the beach here!

The holiday apartments and resorts of Trinity Beach are to be found around the beachfront and the main entrance thouroughfare, Trinity Beach Road. This street is where the community’s shopping and service centre, the Coastwatcher Shopping Centre, is located. There’s a post office, medical centre, dentist, bakery, liquor store, butcher, chemist, newsagent, massage and beauty salon, supermarket, plus dine in or take out restaurants here.

Weather & Climate

With plenty of sunshine, warm seas, refreshing breezes and a warm climate all year round, Trinity Beach’s weather is hard to beat.

Tropical North Queensland essentially has only two seasons. Winter (from May to November) has warm temperatures from a low overnight of around 17°C up to a high of 25°C and very low rainfall during these months.

Summer, also known as the “green” season, is from December through to April with average temperatures between 22°C and 33°C. High rainfall and humidity can be experienced during the summer months sustaining the lush rainforests and tropical vegetation of the region.

The waterfalls are magnificent at this time of year, and the rainforest has a magic of its own.

Beachfront apartments, ocean view, palm fringed golden sandy beaches - that's what Trinity Beach is all about.

Safe Swimming

Trinity Beach is a favourite with locals and visitors alike, having won North Queensland’s Cleanest Beach Award in 2003 and 2004.

Trinity Beach offers a safe swimming environment with its large stinger enclosure and Surf Lifesaving Queensland lifeguards on duty daily. The stinger enclosure protects swimmers from the presence of Box Jellyfish and Irukanjis during the months of November through to May.
